The EVAP system is designed to capture vapors that are harmful to the environment and direct them into the engine to be burned – kind of an on-board recycling program.

The EVAP system is a complicated network of hoses, valves, solenoids and filters. Issues with the EVAP systems are among the Top 5 reasons for a Check Engine Light or Service Engine Soon to be illuminated on the dash or in the information center of your vehicle. Additional diagnostics may be requried but with the proper equipment, your vehicle can be tested to determine if there is a blockage in the system or a possible leak. A low pressure smoke test can be performed to find any leaks. The repairs are then made to get the EVAP system working again and to reset the Check Engine Light.
